For review today I have Hiper's brand spanking new HPU-5K770 PSU. The PSU is a 770w hardwired model claiming to support Quad-SLi and CrossFire, and including five USB ports. But does it live up to expectations? And who are Hiper exactly? From the HPU-5K700 press release:
"Hiper were founded in Milton Keynes/UK in 2001. Based on high-end marketing and technology expertise the company is now among the leading manufacturers of PC power supply units & connection cables, HTPC (Home Theatre Personal Computer), low profile thermal solutions, and Digital Connectivity cables for Consumer Electronics, now with 6 offices and 3 warehouses. The brand name HIPER represents the cutting edge technology, quality, passion and entrepreneurial spirit of more than 250 employees throughout Europe, Asia and North America put in every single product that is shipped from own factories. Even the very top of the line HIPER product can be afforded with a student’s week salary."
Being a student myself, it'll be interesting to see if that last claim can be backed up with this latest offering from Hiper. The product comes with a three year RTB warranty and costs in the region of £100. US stores will be receiving it shortly.

The Package
The TNT lorry arrived when it said it would, and I eagerly signed for the parcel. The delivery man gave me a pretty non-descript cardboard box, clearly marked with Hiper packing tape.
Opening the box, I was greeted with some newspaper and bubble wrap. Pushing further, I retrieved one of Hiper's great PSU boxes, complete with one rather spangly 770w PSU, a bag for the optional piggyback connectors, a US/UK power lead, two case badges, screws and the instruction manual.
Hiper's PSUs are always well packaged. Their standard PSUs come in environmentally-friendly recycled packaging and their higher-end models are contained in proper plastic boxes, which are designed for holding spare computer bits and tools when you've installed your power supply.
