Since the Phenom will run on AM2 will you (or do you) use an AM2 setup?
I already am on AM2 and plan to stay.
I was already planning to move to AM2.
I am moving to AM2 because it will support the Phenom.
I am waiting till the Phenom is out for a while but will consider it.
I am an AMD Fanboy.
I am an Intel Fanboy.
I am not considering an AM2 setup at all.
I don't care as long as I can get my email.
Phenom-what? AM2 who?! Speak english man!

Super Talent 2GB (T1000UX2G5) PC2-8000 RAM

Real-Time Pricing

Super Talent is a name you have seen before in previous reviews here at PC Apex and hopefully it won't be the last time as their products just keep getting better. For those of you keeping score, Super Talent (as well as it's parent company MA Labs) is a company based in the United States; San Jose's Silicon Valley to be precise. Here is a little more about the company:

About MALABS
Founded in 1983, MA LABS is one of the leading computer component distributors in the United States. The company specializes in memory modules and also distributes CPUs, storage products, motherboards, multimedia products, communication products, video graphic cards, notebooks and Microsoft products. We have over 5,000 hardware and software products in stock. Our more than three hundred sales, engineering and customer service employees are here to serve you from the company's 125,000 square-foot facility in the heart of Silicon Valley--San Jose, California.

Award-Winning Growth and Success
In the rapidly evolving and hugely competitive computer industry, MA LABS has achieved remarkable success. In 1993, The Business Journal recognized MA Labs as the largest private company in Silicon Valley. In 1995 MA LABS received the President's commendation and award for becoming one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States. In 2000, Forbes magazine listed Ma LABS as the 317th largest private company in the United States. In 2001, Ma LABS became one of the Microsoft Authorized OEM Distributors.

We have seen their side of the story, now here are my theories (some may call them McConspiracy theories, I'll leave you to figure that one out): NOTE: (PC Apex is not liable for these theories as they stem from the twisted mind of the reviewer alone)

Super Talent and their parent company MA Labs are secretly controlled by a mega-corporate sponsor located at 702 S.W. 8th Street in Bentonville, Arkansas. I mean come on, look at their logos.

Super Talent and MA Labs are actually the same entity in the same location, someone just photoshopped one of the "About Us" pics, not sure which one at this point of my investigation. Another clue on the Bentonville link, the colors match as well, hmmm. They also use similar fonts.

Super Talent is also planning on world domination... not the same world domination as in a Pinky & The Brain cartoon, oh no! This is much more sinister... they plan to "dominate your face" with their upcoming marketing campaign.

Ok, now that the background info is out of the way (or spilled, however you choose to look at it), let us move on to the technical specs of the T1000UX2G5 modules according to Super Talent's own website.

Specs

Here are the specs on the Super Talent PC8000 DDR2 RAM as taken from the .pdf spec sheet on their website:

Description

The T1000UX2G5 is a high performance 2GB kit of DDR2-1000 DIMMs that supports extreme clockspeeds. It is ideal for gamers, power users and overclockers, and is perfectly suited for the fastest new Intel and AMD platforms.

This kit has been tested and is guaranteed to operate at 1000MHz at 5-5-5-15 latencies at 2.2 volts. It has been tested as a matched pair of modules in a dual channel motherboard to ensure ultimate reliability, compatibility and performance.

These modules are clad in our custom blue cast aluminum high-efficiency (HE) heatspreaders for optimum thermal performance. Efficient cooling is essential to optimize speed and to preserve the life of the DIMMs.

This kit is also available as individual 1GB modules (see p/n T1000UB1G5).

Module Features
- 2x 240-pin DDR2 DIMMs
- Non-ECC, Unbuffered
- 2GB kit (2x 128Mx64)
- DDR2-1000, 5-5-5-15 latencies
- Dual rank
- Chip Architecture: 2x 16 chips, 64Mx8
- Cast aluminum high-efficiency (HE) heatspreader
- SPD*: DDR2-800, 5-5-5-15 latencies
- Made in USA
- Super Talent Lifetime Warranty

Test Specs
Modules are tested and guaranteed to operate at these specs:
- DDR2-1000 / PC2-8000
- 5-5-5-15 Latencies (CAS, tRCD, tRP, tRAS)
- Test Voltage: 2.2V
- Tested on Asus P5WD2
- Tested as a matched pair in a dual channel motherboard

Package

No damage during shipping this time, so no need for packaging pictures. Apparently the packing was adequately protective with the foam peanuts used. The blister pack that the RAM came in has apparently become the standard for RAM with traditional heat spreaders, and I for one am glad as I no longer cut my fingers/hands/forearms/various other extremities (and profanities later).
