Since the Phenom will run on AM2 will you (or do you) use an AM2 setup?
I already am on AM2 and plan to stay.
I was already planning to move to AM2.
I am moving to AM2 because it will support the Phenom.
I am waiting till the Phenom is out for a while but will consider it.

Introduction

3G Laser Sensor. That's optical engineering jargon for ridiculously fast and accurate. Once again Razer is first to market with next generation technology and this time it's in the form of the Razer Lachesis. While others have made due with the measly 3200 dpi 2G laser, Razer ups the ante with the 4000 dpi 3G laser sensor.

In Greek mythology, Lachesis is the second of the three fates who wove the web of life which controlled the fate of us mere mortals. Lachesis was responsible for deciding how long the thread of life was to be. You didn't want to tick Lachesis off. Keeping in fashion with Razer's penchant for snake nomenclature, Lachesis Muta Muta is also another name for the largest pit viper in the world, the Bushmaster. You don't want to cheese off a big poisonous snake either.

To borrow a phrase from Walt Disney, Razer is "the house the mouse built", and although Razer now makes a variety of gaming peripherals it's always a pleasure to review what made Razer a gaming icon in the first place.

Package

I found the Lachesis in a shallow puddle on my doorstep in a water logged Fed Ex box. Yes, it rains in Phoenix, who woulda thought it? But the retail package didn't seem much the worse for the soaking. Like most mice packaging, the Lachisis' box is an exercise in extravagance that will have advocates of green packaging (tree huggers) fuming. It is right purdy though continue the tradition of basic black and neon green. Lachesis is spelled out in holographic foil and the mouse is highlighted with a spot gloss UV coating against the satin background.

I like the formed plastic over the mouse. In the absence of a display sample, it can give you some idea how the Lachesis will fit your hand. If you're not familiar with Razer's previous ambidextrous design types, it's best to try before you buy. At least lefties aren't left hanging out in the cold. The feisty rodent comes with a manual, driver disk and stickers to make your computer run faster.
